Design with added value

– What characterizes our work as designers at Industrilås is that we’re incredibly mindful of the customer. Our clients’ needs and interests are always the primary focus. It may sound like a cliché, but that’s really the way it is.

Magnus Pettersson, a designer himself, plans and organizes the workflow in the department, making sure that each project ends up with the right person. There are seven dedicated designers, and one person preparing items for production while overseeing manufacturing costs and prices. One additional person deals with tool acquisitions.

– We have a lengthy industry experience, which is a definite strength. By combining innovative thinking with creativity and industrial design we contribute an added value that gives the customer a more attractive product, Pettersson continues.

It is a lot about professional pride. To not just barely fulfil what is expected of you, but also contribute more value in the design as well as the function.

Even if many of the design department’s clients are found in the telecom, auto or HVAC industries, the Rolodex is considerably more diversified than that.
– Anyone who manufactures some sort of cabinet for industrial use with an opening and closing door can benefit from our services and knowledge. But many projects also expand outside of the sphere of our department since our company encompasses the whole chain from design to production, Pettersson points out.

All designers in the Industrilås design department draw in 3D CAD. The company was first in Scandinavia to implement Solid Works software and still draft in that program. Additionally the department is capable of quickly providing sample items in a 3D-printer.
– The customer can have an idea one day and a sample in hand the next. Speed and flexibility are important. We often relate better to a product that we can hold in our hand, twist and turn and not just see on a screen.
